Five-pack step-down modules

The KEHIPI LM2596 pack contains five identical buck converters that accept a DC input between 3.0 V and 40 V and deliver an adjustable output from 1.5 V to 35 V. Each module is rated for a maximum output current of 3 A and uses SANYO solid-state capacitors on a 36 u thickened circuit board. An on-board LED indicates when the output is active. The units are supplied new and ready for integration into custom power circuits.

Wiring and adjustment needs

Every converter requires a source voltage at least 1.5 V above the desired output because the topology is step-down only. The blue potentiometer sets the output level; the factory defaults to a high voltage so roughly 15 to 20 counter-clockwise turns are needed before the voltage begins to fall. A multimeter is essential during this calibration. The compact 45 by 20 by 14 mm footprint leaves ample space on a protoboard or inside a small enclosure.

Thermal and power behaviour

Under normal loads the LM2596 silicon runs warm but stays within its design limits without forced airflow. The high-Q inductance and solid-state capacitors keep ripple low and efficiency high across the adjustment range. No fan or heatsink is included, so sustained operation near the 3 A ceiling benefits from a modest copper pour or small clip-on heatsink. Quiescent draw is minimal, leaving most of the input power available to the load.
