NXM-512 512GB M.2 2242 NVMe SSD

The KingSpec NXM-512 is a 512GB internal solid-state drive built on 3D NAND flash. It uses the M.2 2242 form factor and a PCIe 3.0 x4 interface with NVMe 1.3 compliance. The drive targets users upgrading ultrabooks, laptops, desktops or all-in-one PCs where a short M.2 slot is the only storage option.

Build integration and system impact

The 42.0mm length fits tight M.2 2242 slots in thin devices and leaves larger bays free for secondary drives. A PCIe 3.0 x4 motherboard key and NVMe 1.3 support are required. The drive draws 3.6W at idle from a 3.3V rail and supports S.M.A.R.T., TRIM and hardware LDPC error correction across Windows 7-10, Linux and CentOS.

Sustained workload behaviour

Sequential throughput reaches up to 3500 MBps read and 2700 MBps write with 4KB random performance up to 330,000 read IOPS and 250,000 write IOPS. The on-board heat spreader helps manage temperatures during extended transfers within the 0°C to 70°C operating range. MTBF is rated at 1,000,000 hours.
