All-in-one crimper for data and voice cables

The Klein Tools VDV226-107 combines cutting, stripping and crimping for CAT6, CAT5e, CAT3 and flat-satin voice cables in a single compact frame. It terminates both RJ45 and RJ11/12 modular connectors, making it suitable for network installers and technicians who handle both data and telephone wiring on site. The tool is new and ready for immediate use.

Full-cycle ratchet gives consistent terminations

A full-cycle ratchet mechanism forces the jaws through a complete crimp cycle before release, so every connector is fully seated even during long runs of terminations. Direct lateral crimp action applies pressure evenly across all pins, reducing the risk of partial contacts that can appear with indirect crimp tools when fatigue sets in. Wiring diagrams printed on the body keep pin-out references visible without looking away from the work.

Check connector brand and cable type before ordering

The crimper is not compatible with AMP connectors, so verify that the modular plugs you plan to use are not from that brand. It handles only the listed cable categories and flat-satin voice cable; other jacket types or shielded variants are not supported. Ensure your workflow uses RJ45 or RJ11/12 connectors, as no other connector styles are accommodated.

Questions about this item

How much hand effort does the ratchet mechanism require during repeated crimping?

The full-cycle ratchet only releases after the connector is fully seated, so each squeeze completes the termination without extra force.

Which connector types and cable categories must I have on hand for this tool to work?

It crimps RJ45 and RJ11/12 plugs onto CAT6, CAT5e, CAT3 or flat-satin voice cable; you supply the connectors and cable.

Will the VDV226-107 crimp the AMP-brand connectors I already own?

No — the manufacturer states the tool is not for use with AMP connectors.
