Emergency radio for power outages

The Leaton 098 orange receives AM FM NOAA and shortwave bands so you stay informed during storms or backcountry trips. A 5 watt speaker delivers clear alerts and broadcasts. The 5000mAh polymer cell runs the radio flashlight and can top up a smartphone. It charges from a wall outlet solar panel or the built in hand crank. The replaceable battery compartment accepts common 14500 AA or 18650 cells for long term readiness.

Simple setup with replaceable power

No tools or pairing are required. Extend the crank handle unfold the solar panel or plug into USB power to charge the internal pack. If the built in cell degrades swap it with standard 14500 AA or 18650 batteries instead of discarding the unit. The only common issue is forgetting to fully charge the pack before storage which leaves less reserve when an outage hits.

5000mAh capacity decides suitability

The 5000mAh rating determines how many hours of radio time or phone top ups you get between charges. Buyers who need multi day runtime for a whole family or repeated device charging will find this capacity limiting. The radio measures 7.5 by 3.0 by 6.7 inches and weighs 12 ounces so it fits in a go bag but cannot replace a high capacity power station.

Questions about this item

How do I verify the Leaton 098 orange radio is working after setup?

Tune to a local NOAA channel and confirm the weather alert tone sounds clearly; the extended antenna and noise-reduction circuit should deliver crisp reception, and the 5 W speaker will play the broadcast loud enough to hear across a room.

What comes in the box with the Leaton 098 orange and what must I buy separately?

The unit includes the 5000 mAh built-in battery and the extended hand-crank handle; you must purchase AA, 14500 or 18650 cells separately if you want replaceable backup power.

Which capacity or version of the Leaton 098 orange should I choose?

Only the 5000 mAh model is offered; choose it when you need a single unit that covers AM, FM, shortwave and NOAA bands with a user-replaceable battery design.
