What this laptop is and who it is for

The Lenovo Legion 5 is a 15.1-inch OLED gaming laptop powered by an Intel Core i9-14900HX processor with 24 cores and 32 threads, a GeForce RTX 5070 GPU, 64GB of DDR5 memory and a 4TB SSD. It runs Windows 11 Home and targets users who need high core counts, fast storage and a 165Hz QHD+ display for content creation or competitive play. Buyers who want a smaller screen, a lighter chassis or a lower-spec configuration should look elsewhere.

What to check on your existing setup before ordering

Verify that your workflow can use Windows 11 Home and that any external monitors you plan to connect support HDMI or USB-C video input. The laptop provides three USB 3.0 Type-A ports, two USB-C ports, one HDMI port, a headset jack and a wired Ethernet port. It has no media card reader and no optical drive, so confirm you do not rely on built-in SD or disc access.

Thermals, noise and power draw in normal use

The system uses a lithium-ion battery and a 13.58 by 13.94 by 14.13 inch chassis weighing 4.19 lbs to manage heat from the 5.8GHz turbo processor and dedicated graphics. Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) and Bluetooth handle wireless connectivity. Fan behaviour and acoustic levels will vary with workload; sustained heavy compute or gaming loads will increase thermal output and fan speed accordingly.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box with the Legion 5 i9-14900HX RTX 5070 and do I need to buy any cables or peripherals separately?

The laptop includes a 4.19 lb chassis with 64GB DDR5, 4TB SSD, 15.1" 2560x1600 165Hz OLED, Wi-Fi 7 and Windows 11 Home. No media card reader or optical drive are fitted. Power adapter is standard; any extra USB-C, HDMI or Ethernet cables are separate purchases.

Should I choose a different memory or storage capacity for this i9-14900HX model?

This unit is already configured with the maximum 64GB DDR5 SODIMM and 4TB PCIe M.2 SSD listed for the platform, so no larger factory option exists.

What does the 5.8 GHz turbo figure mean when the i9-14900HX is inside this 15.1" chassis?

The 5.80 GHz single-core turbo is available for short bursts; sustained all-core speeds will be lower and depend on the cooling solution in the 13.58 x 13.94 x 14.13 in chassis.
