Compact business desktop

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720q is a micro form-factor desktop powered by an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8500 hexa-core processor reaching 4.1 GHz. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 memory, a 128 GB M.2 SSD for the operating system and a 1 TB SSD for data. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed, and a USB keyboard, mouse and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth dongle are included. The tiny chassis suits office desks with limited space.

Build integration

The DIMM 240-pin memory slots allow expansion up to 32 GB of DDR4 when workloads grow. Dual-drive storage is already configured with the OS on the M.2 drive and a 1000 GB SSD free for files, so no immediate drive installation is required. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics drives displays without a discrete card, freeing the single expansion slot for other add-in boards. The DVD-ROM optical drive remains available for legacy media.

Capacity and headroom

Six cores at up to 4.1 GHz handle typical business applications, web browsing and multi-monitor productivity with ease. The 128 GB boot drive holds the OS and core programs, while the 1 TB secondary SSD provides ample room for documents and local backups. Memory headroom reaches 32 GB for heavier multitasking, though the integrated graphics and 65 W processor limit 3D rendering and sustained compute loads.

Questions about this item

Does the 65 W i5-8500 throttle under long workloads in the Tiny case?

The 65 W hexa-core i5-8500 is rated to 4.1 GHz boost; the M720q micro chassis uses a custom cooler designed for that thermal envelope, so sustained loads stay within spec without heavy throttling.

How loud and hot does the M720q get when it runs all day?

The 65 W CPU and single system fan keep noise low — typically a quiet hum — while case temperatures remain warm but comfortable to touch during extended business use.

What display cable do I need since no monitor is included?

The unit provides DisplayPort and HDMI outputs; have a monitor with either input and the matching cable ready before first boot.
