Compact business desktop

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720q is a micro-form-factor desktop powered by an Intel Core i7-8700 hexa-core processor reaching 4.60 GHz. It ships with 8 GB DDR4 memory, a 256 GB M.2 SSD for the operating system and a 1 TB SSD for data. Windows 11 Pro, a USB keyboard and a USB mouse are included.

Upgrade from older office PCs

This unit replaces ageing tower workstations that struggle with modern multitasking. The jump is worth it when your current machine cannot run Windows 11 Pro or when a dual-drive layout would speed up boot and file access. Buyers who need more than 32 GB RAM or discrete graphics should look elsewhere.

Simple drop-in deployment

The tiny chassis fits behind a monitor or on a desk shelf with standard VESA mounts. Installation is limited to connecting power, display and network cables. The only common issue is the proprietary motherboard layout, which prevents later CPU or motherboard swaps.

Questions about this item

What physical space does the M720q Micro case require for mounting?

The M720q uses a Micro form factor case designed for minimal desk footprint and supports VESA mounting behind compatible monitors using the appropriate bracket.

How is the DDR4 memory installed and what step is commonly missed?

Insert the 240-pin DDR4 UDIMM modules into the SO-DIMM slots at an angle until the retention clips click; the step often missed is pressing firmly until both clips engage fully.

When will the 256 GB M.2 drive and 1 TB SSD need replacement?

Both solid-state drives have no moving parts and typically last several years; replace them when SMART health indicators show wear or capacity no longer meets workload demands.
