Compact Business Desktop

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720q Tiny is a new micro-form-factor desktop built around an Intel Core i5-8500 hexa-core processor running at up to 4.10 GHz. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory, a 128 GB M.2 SSD for the operating system and a 1 TB hard drive for bulk storage. Windows 10 Pro, a USB keyboard and a USB mouse are included.

Fits Tight Spaces, Not Heavy GPU Loads

This unit suits offices needing a quiet, space-saving PC for productivity apps, web browsing and multi-monitor setups using integrated Intel UHD Graphics. Buyers who need a discrete graphics card for 3D rendering, video editing or gaming should look elsewhere, as the tiny chassis does not accommodate add-in boards. The 16 GB of memory is soldered to the board and cannot be upgraded beyond the factory configuration.

128 GB M.2 SSD Plus 1 TB Hard Drive

The dual-drive layout puts the OS and frequently used programs on the 128 GB M.2 solid-state drive while the 1 TB mechanical drive holds large files and backups. This combination decides whether the system meets your capacity and speed requirements. The M.2 slot is occupied by the boot drive, so adding a second M.2 device is not possible without removing the existing one.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 16 GB DDR4 memory into the 240-pin DIMM slots on this M720q Tiny Desktop?

Power off and unplug the unit, remove the chassis cover, align the notch on the DDR4 UDIMM with the slot key, press firmly until the retention clips click, then replace the cover and power on.

What maintenance or replacement will the 1 TB hard drive and DVD-ROM drive need later?

The mechanical hard drive may develop bad sectors over time and should be monitored with SMART tools; the DVD-ROM laser can degrade, requiring drive replacement if read errors appear.

Which limit appears first under sustained load on the Intel Core i5-8500 65 W processor with Intel UHD Graphics?

The 65 W thermal envelope causes the CPU to throttle clock speeds before the integrated graphics becomes the bottleneck.
