Compact Business Desktop

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720s is a small-form-factor desktop built around a six-core Intel Core i5-8500 processor running at 3.0 GHz. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 2 TB NVMe PCIe solid-state drive. Intel UHD Graphics 630 handles integrated video output through dual DisplayPort and a single VGA connector. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed. The chassis measures a slim footprint suited to space-constrained offices.

Upgrade Path From Older SFF Units

This system replaces ageing small-form-factor workstations that rely on spinning hard drives or dual-core CPUs. The jump is worthwhile when daily workloads involve multi-threaded business applications, large spreadsheet calculations or simultaneous virtual machines that exceed the memory and throughput of prior generations. Buyers who need discrete graphics acceleration or more than two native display outputs should look elsewhere.

Interface And Expansion Limits

Connectivity includes one USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port, six USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports and two USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A ports. Gigabit Ethernet provides wired networking at 10/100/1000 Mbps. No wireless card is installed. The slim chassis restricts internal expansion to low-profile cards and limits additional drive bays. Power delivery is rated at 65 W for the processor.

Questions about this item

Will the 2TB NVMe PCIe SSD fit in the M720s small form factor chassis?

The 2TB NVMe PCIe SSD is already installed in the M720s small form factor chassis, so no additional drive mounting is required.

How do I install Windows 11 Pro on this desktop, and what step is often missed?

Windows 11 Pro comes preloaded; the step often missed is completing the initial out-of-box setup and connecting to the internet for activation and updates.

When will the 16GB DDR4 memory need replacement or upgrade?

The 16GB DDR4 memory is soldered or slotted for the system's rated capacity; plan an upgrade only if workloads exceed the installed 16GB.
