Compact Business Desktop

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720s is a small-form-factor desktop built for office environments. It ships with an 8th Generation Intel Core i5-8500 hexa-core processor running at 3.0 GHz with a turbo frequency up to 4.10 GHz. The system includes 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 2.5-inch 256 GB SSD. Windows 10 Pro comes pre-installed alongside a USB keyboard and mouse.

Upgrade From Older SFF Systems

This unit replaces ageing small-form-factor desktops that rely on dual-core or quad-core processors and mechanical hard drives. The six-core i5-8500 and solid-state storage deliver a measurable responsiveness lift for multitasking and business applications. The jump is worth it when current hardware struggles with 16 GB workloads or lacks 64-bit OS support. The platform supports memory expansion up to 32 GB DDR4 if headroom is needed.

Integrated Graphics And Connectivity Limits

Visual output is handled by Intel UHD Graphics 630, which drives typical productivity displays but is not suited for 3D rendering or multi-monitor gaming setups. Wireless connectivity uses a USB dongle capable of 5 GHz bands; no internal Wi-Fi card is fitted. The SFF chassis restricts full-height expansion cards and limits power headroom to the 65 W processor envelope. A DVD-ROM drive is included for legacy media access.

Questions about this item

What size drive bay does the 2.5" 256 GB SSD require?

The SSD uses a standard 2.5-inch drive bay, which is the native mounting size for this SFF chassis.

How is the USB wireless dongle installed, and what step is often missed?

Plug the supplied USB dongle into any free USB port; the step often missed is allowing Windows 10 Pro to finish the automatic driver installation before expecting Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to work.

What memory type and maximum capacity will be needed for a future RAM upgrade?

The system uses DDR4 UDIMM modules and supports up to 32 GB total across its two slots.
