Compact SFF desktop for office work

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720s is a small-form-factor business desktop powered by an Intel Core i5-8500 hexa-core processor running at 3.0 GHz with a 4.1 GHz turbo. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 1 TB 2.5-inch SSD, running Windows 11 Pro out of the box.

Bundled peripherals and connectivity

A USB keyboard and mouse are included so the system is ready to deploy without extra purchases. A USB wireless dongle adds 5 GHz-capable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, while a DVD-ROM drive handles legacy media. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 drives displays through the onboard video outputs.

DDR4 memory ceiling and graphics limits

The platform supports up to 32 GB of DDR4 UDIMM memory across its two slots, so the installed 8 GB can be expanded. Integrated UHD Graphics 630 suits general productivity and video playback but lacks the 3D performance required for modern gaming or GPU-accelerated rendering workloads.

Questions about this item

Can the 8 GB DDR4 memory be expanded later?

The board supports up to 32 GB of DDR4, so the installed 8 GB can be increased by adding compatible modules.

What limits the Intel Core i5-8500 during long workloads?

The processor has a 65 W power rating and a maximum turbo frequency of 4.1 GHz; sustained loads will hit that thermal envelope first.

How much fan noise and heat should I expect from the SFF case all day?

The compact SFF chassis uses a 65 W CPU and integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630, so acoustic output and case temperature stay modest under typical office tasks.
