ThinkCentre M720s SFF desktop PC

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720s is a small-form-factor desktop computer powered by an 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8700 hexa-core processor reaching 4.60 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 2.5-inch 512 GB solid-state drive. Windows 10 Pro comes pre-installed alongside a DVD-ROM drive, a USB keyboard and a USB mouse. A USB wireless dongle provides Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

Suits office users; not for GPU upgrades

This system suits office workers and small-business environments that need a compact, ready-to-use PC for productivity applications, web browsing and video conferencing. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 handles standard display output but cannot drive modern 3D workloads. Buyers who need a discrete graphics card for rendering, CAD or gaming should look elsewhere because the slim chassis and 65 W processor limit expansion options.

65 W hexa-core i7-8700 processor

The Intel Core i7-8700 runs at a 3.20 GHz base frequency with a 4.60 GHz maximum turbo across six cores and twelve threads while maintaining a 65 W thermal design power. This power envelope defines what the SFF chassis can cool and therefore determines whether the machine fits a given workload. Matching this processor specification to your performance and thermal requirements is the single decisive factor for this configuration.

Questions about this item

Does the ThinkCentre M720s arrive with the 512 GB SSD and 16 GB DDR4 already installed, or must I add them myself?

The unit ships with the 2.5" 512 GB solid-state drive and 16 GB DDR4 UDIMM factory-fitted, plus a USB keyboard, USB mouse and a USB Wi-Fi/Bluetooth dongle; no extra parts are required to start working.

Should I pick the i7-8700 version over an i5 model for the 12 MB cache and 4.60 GHz turbo?

The i7-8700 supplies six cores, twelve threads, 12 MB cache and a 4.60 GHz maximum turbo, giving more headroom for multi-threaded workloads than the quad-core i5 alternative.

How does the Intel UHD Graphics 630 perform inside this SFF chassis for everyday office tasks?

The integrated UHD 630 handles standard business applications, dual-display output and video playback without a discrete card, while the 65 W processor stays within the small-form-factor thermal limits.
