Compact business desktop

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720s is a small-form-factor desktop built for office environments. It runs on an 8th Generation Intel Core i5-8500 hexa-core processor reaching up to 4.10 GHz. The system includes 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a dual-drive layout with a 256 GB M.2 SSD plus a 1 TB SSD. Windows 10 Pro comes pre-installed with a Lenovo USB keyboard and mouse.

Suited for standard office workloads

This configuration handles everyday productivity, web-based applications and multi-monitor setups through integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630. The compact chassis fits tight desk spaces and includes a DVD-ROM drive for legacy media. Buyers who need discrete graphics performance for rendering or gaming should look at a different system. Expandability is limited by the SFF design and 65 W processor power envelope.

16 GB DDR4 memory installed

The platform ships with 16 GB of DDR4 UDIMM and supports up to 32 GB total. This capacity covers typical business multitasking without immediate upgrades. Users planning memory-heavy virtualisation or large dataset work should verify the 32 GB ceiling meets their requirements before purchase.

Questions about this item

Does the 256 GB M.2 drive or 1 TB SSD need replacing first under heavy write workloads?

Both are solid-state with no moving parts, so neither has a scheduled replacement interval; the M.2 holds the OS and the 1 TB SSD stores data, and each will last for many years of typical business use.

What limits sustained performance first — the 65 W processor or the compact SFF cooling?

The Intel Core i5-8500 is rated at 65 W, and the small-form-factor chassis is designed to dissipate that heat continuously without throttling under normal office workloads.

How loud and hot does the M720s get when left running all day?

The 65 W hexa-core CPU and integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 produce modest heat, and the SFF fan runs quietly at idle, rising to a low audible level only during prolonged heavy compute tasks.
