Product identity

The Ultimate Ears MEGABOOM 4 is a portable Bluetooth speaker built for listeners who want 360-degree sound with deep bass in a rugged, floating design. It suits outdoor gatherings, poolside use and travel where a durable, waterproof speaker is required. Buyers who need a wired audio input or a built-in voice assistant will not find those features here.

Thermals, noise and power

The rechargeable lithium-ion battery delivers up to 20 hours of playback at the default 42% volume level, while maximum output reaches 85 dBC. Passive cooling keeps the unit silent during operation, and the speaker charges via a USB-C connection. No active fans or thermal throttling are present.

Build integration

An IP67 rating makes the speaker fully waterproof and dustproof, and it floats when dropped in water. The compact cylindrical form measures 225 mm in height and 87 mm in diameter, weighing 935 g, so it fits easily in a backpack or cup holder. PartyUp in the BOOM app lets you link multiple compatible Ultimate Ears speakers for wider coverage.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the MEGABOOM 4 to my phone for the first time?

Enable Bluetooth on your phone, press the Bluetooth button on the speaker until the tone sounds, then select "MEGABOOM 4" from your device list. The speaker supports A2DP for audio playback and has a 45 meter range.

What part of the MEGABOOM 4 will wear out first and can I replace it?

The rechargeable lithium-ion battery is rated for up to 20 hours of play time at 42% volume. It is built into the speaker and is not user-replaceable, so the battery life will gradually decrease over years of charge cycles.

How long can I run the MEGABOOM 4 at full volume before the battery dies?

The 20-hour rating is measured at 42% default volume. At maximum 85 dBC output the battery drains significantly faster, so sustained loud playback will hit the battery limit well before the rated time.
