Four-bay 2.5" SAS/SATA adapter for 5.25" bay

This adapter fits four 2.5-inch SAS or SATA drives up to 9.5 mm thick into a single external 5.25-inch bay. It suits builders adding hot-swap storage to servers, workstations or custom NAS units where drive density matters.

Check bay space and host controller

Verify the chassis has a free external 5.25-inch bay with enough depth for the unit. Confirm the motherboard or HBA provides SAS ports for 12 Gbp/s SAS drives or SATA ports for 6 Gbp/s SATA drives. A single 15-pin SATA power connector must be available from the power supply.

Passive cooling and shared power

The tray-less, door-less metal frame relies on case airflow to cool all four drives. Noise comes only from the installed drives themselves. One 15-pin SATA power connection feeds every bay, so total draw depends on the drives used.

Questions about this item

Does the LORDWORLD MB024SP-B include the four drives or just the rack and cables?

The adapter is a bare rack; you supply your own 2.5" SAS or SATA drives. It fits four drives up to 9.5 mm thick and powers them all from one 15-pin SATA power connector.

Should I pick the 6 Gbit/s SATA path or the 12 Gbit/s SAS path for my build?

Choose SATA 6 Gbit/s for any standard motherboard or controller. Use the 12 Gbit/s SAS path only if you have a SAS host bus adapter or RAID card that supports it.

Will I actually see 12 Gbit/s throughput with four SSDs in a 5.25" bay?

The backplane passes up to 12 Gbit/s per drive on SAS, but real-world speed depends on your SAS controller, drive specs and system load.
