  • Two Mini-SAS HD cables connect all eight bays for plug-and-play RAID card compatibility
  • Two 15-pin SATA power connectors supply every drive without extra cables
  • Dual 40 mm fans offer high low and off settings for adjustable cooling
  • Full-metal chassis built for medical military and workstation reliability

Eight-drive 5.25 bay enclosure

The ToughArmor MB998IP-B fits eight 2.5 SATA drives or SSDs between 5 mm and 7 mm thick into one external 5.25 bay. It targets RAID arrays for media servers, workstations, HPCs and industrial PCs where dense, hot-swappable storage is required.

Check Mini-SAS HD ports and SATA power

Your host must provide two Mini-SAS HD connectors and two 15-pin SATA power leads to run all eight bays. Verify that your chassis has an accessible 5.25 opening and that the drives you plan to install are 2.5 SATA models no thicker than 7 mm.

Dual 40 mm fans with three speed settings

User-controllable fans run at high, low or off to match thermal demand during sustained RAID workloads. All-metal construction dissipates heat across the enclosure body, keeping drive temperatures stable over long rebuilds or continuous streaming sessions.

What comes in the box and what must I buy separately?

The enclosure fits eight 2.5 SATA drives or SSDs into one 5.25 bay and includes dual 40mm fans with high, low and off settings. You must supply two Mini-SAS HD data cables and two 15pin SATA power connectors.

Which version should I choose for my RAID setup?

What does the eight-bay Mini-SAS HD connection mean for real-world throughput?

Two Mini-SAS HD cables carry all eight SATA or SAS drives, letting a compatible RAID card or motherboard see every bay simultaneously for high-performance arrays.
