A 3-metre QSFP28 active optical cable carrying four 25 Gbit/s full-duplex channels for 100 Gb Ethernet links, hot-pluggable and lower power than copper alternatives
This LR-LINK cable delivers 100Gb or 40Gb Ethernet over four full-duplex channels, each running at up to 25Gb/s. It is built for data-centre racks and high-density switches where a lightweight, low-power interconnect is required. The QSFP28 form factor plugs directly into compatible ports without an external transceiver.
The active optical design is lighter and thinner than copper DAC equivalents, easing cable management in dense patch panels. The upgrade is worthwhile when port density, airflow or bend-radius limits make copper impractical, and when the link distance stays within the supported 3-metre reach. It draws under 3.5W from a single 3.3V supply.
Insert the connectors into matching QSFP28 ports on switches, routers or NICs; no driver or firmware load is needed on the cable itself. Ensure the host equipment supports 100G or 40G Ethernet over QSFP28 and that the port configuration matches the four-channel 25Gb/s lane arrangement. Mismatched speeds or unsupported breakout modes are the typical cause of link failures.

The cable uses a hot-pluggable QSFP28 form factor with a smaller diameter than copper DACs, so it fits standard 100G or 40G Ethernet ports without extra clearance.
Insert each end into a QSFP28 port until the latch clicks; the step people miss is confirming the +3.3 V supply is live on both switches before hot-plugging.
The multimode VCSEL array is rated for commercial 0 to 70 °C or industrial -20 to 85 °C operation; plan replacement if the link drops below 25 Gbit/s per channel after prolonged use at temperature extremes.
