4K HDMI Audio Extraction

The LUOM HY-5001 separates embedded digital audio from an HDMI source and delivers it through optical Toslink SPDIF or RCA stereo outputs while passing the original video signal to a connected display. It suits installers who need to route sound from a Blu-ray player, games console or streaming device to an external amplifier or soundbar without losing the picture feed. The unit includes a 5 V power adapter and requires no software configuration.

HDMI 1.4 Bandwidth Limits

Video throughput is capped at the HDMI 1.4 specification, so 4K resolution is supported only at 30 Hz with 36‑bit deep colour; higher refresh rates or newer HDR formats cannot be transmitted. The extractor does not support ARC, so a television’s internal apps cannot send audio back through the same cable. HDCP 1.4 compliance allows protected content from typical source devices to pass through without handshake errors.

Multi-Channel Audio Headroom

Three selectable modes — PASS, 2.0 CH and 5.1 CH — let the installer match the output to the connected sound system, while the internal decoder handles DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD and LPCM 7.1 bitstreams down to the available optical or analogue ports. When a source delivers more than 5.1 channels the extractor will downmix, so setups requiring discrete 7.1 analogue outputs or object-based formats such as Dolby Atmos are not served by this device.
