HDMI audio extractor with 4K 30 Hz pass-through

The LUOM HY-5001 extracts digital audio from an HDMI source and sends it to optical SPDIF or RCA stereo outputs while passing the original video signal to an HDMI display. It supports 4K resolution at 30 Hz with 36-bit deep colour and HDCP 1.4 compliance. The device includes a 5 V power adapter and offers three audio mode selections: PASS, 2.0CH and 5.1CH.

Suits systems that need separate audio routing

Installers connecting a Blu-ray player, games console or streaming stick to a soundbar, amplifier or AV receiver that lacks HDMI inputs will benefit from the simultaneous optical and analogue outputs. It is not for buyers who require ARC functionality or 4K video at rates above 30 Hz.

Maximum video resolution 1920 x 1080 per

Although the product title mentions 4K, the listed maximum resolution is 1920 x 1080, so 4K 30 Hz pass-through should be verified before purchase. The extractor handles DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD, LPCM 7.1, DTS, Dolby AC3 and DSD audio formats.

Questions about this item

Which source device do I need to connect to the HDMI input for the extractor to function?

Any HDMI source such as a Blu-ray player, PS4, Fire Stick, Chromecast, PC or set-top box can connect to the single HDMI input.

Will the HDMI output still pass 1080p video to my older display while I use the optical or RCA audio outputs?

Yes, the extractor passes the original video signal through to the HDMI output up to 1920 x 1080 while simultaneously sending audio to Toslink or RCA.

How do I confirm the unit is extracting audio correctly after I connect everything?

Select the 2.0CH, 5.1CH or PASS mode switch, then verify sound from your amplifier or soundbar through the optical SPDIF or RCA L/R outputs.
