The LUOM OZG1 is a 1×3 Toslink splitter that takes a single SPDIF optical input and distributes it to three separate outputs. It ships with an optical cable and a USB power lead so the unit is ready to connect a source such as a game console or streaming box to multiple amplifiers or sound bars.

Sustained-load behaviour

The splitter uses an automatic balance circuit and built-in ESD protection to keep the optical signal stable over long runs. It supports a maximum baud rate of 16Mbps with a peak wavelength of 650nm and can drive cables up to 40 metres while keeping loss below .2 dB per metre, drawing no more than 100mA from the 5 V supply.

The deciding specification

The unit only passes LPCM2.0, DTS and Dolby-AC3 formats; it does not carry DTS-HD or multichannel LPCM beyond 5.1. Buyers who need lossless high-resolution audio or more than three simultaneous zones should look for a different distribution method.
