LUOM OZHL2 DAC converter for analog amplifiers

The LUOM OZHL2 accepts Coaxial, Toslink and USB digital sources and converts them to stereo analog output through RCA and 3.5 mm jacks. It is intended for users who need to connect modern digital devices such as a PC, Blu-ray player or game console to a traditional amplifier or powered speakers. A built-in headphone amplifier drives loads from 32 to 600 ohm directly from the front-panel jack.

Passive operation with USB power and manual volume

The unit draws power from the included USB cable and has no internal fan, so it runs silently in normal use. A rotary volume knob on the chassis adjusts the analog output level for both the RCA line output and the 3.5 mm headphone jack without software intervention. The headphone amplifier delivers 125 mW per channel into a 32 ohm load, providing adequate drive for most desktop headphones.

Remote input switching and USB mode selection

The supplied IR remote lets you switch between Coaxial, Toslink and USB inputs from the listening position. When USB is selected, the converter acts as a PC audio device; note that the USB port does not support playback from mass-storage devices such as USB flash drives. The package includes the converter, a USB power cable, the IR remote and a user manual.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the LUOM OZHL2 to my TV and headphones, and which setting do people forget?

Connect the TV's optical or coaxial output to the matching input, set the TV audio output to PCM or LPCM, select the correct input on the converter, then plug headphones into the 3.5 mm jack; the step most people miss is changing the TV from Bitstream to PCM/LPCM.

What maintenance or replacement will the LUOM OZHL2 need over time?

The unit has no user-serviceable parts; keep the IR remote's battery fresh and ensure the USB power cable and connectors stay clean for reliable operation.

What is the first limit I will hit when driving demanding headphones continuously?

The built-in amplifier delivers 125 mW per channel into 32 ohms, so high-impedance or low-sensitivity headphones above 600 ohms will run out of volume before the converter overheats.
