Purpose and audience

This active adapter connects a DisplayPort-equipped computer to any HDMI monitor, TV or projector. It is built for users who need 4K60 video and 7.1-channel audio from a single DisplayPort output without installing drivers.

Signal quality and power

The gold-plated connectors and active circuitry maintain a clean 4K signal at 60 Hz and 1080p at 120 Hz. Power is drawn directly from the DisplayPort source, so no external supply is required and the adapter adds no audible noise or heat.

Upgrade path and limits

It replaces passive dongles that cannot drive 4K60 or that drop audio on longer runs. The jump is worth it when your DisplayPort 1.2 source must feed an HDMI 2.0 display at full resolution. It does not work with Thunderbolt 3 ports, carries signal only from DisplayPort to HDMI, and cannot convert an HDMI source to a DisplayPort screen.

Questions about this item

How do I plug the DisplayPort end in without it coming loose?

Insert the male DisplayPort connector until the latches click into place; they hold the adapter firmly in the port and prevent accidental disconnection.

Will the gold-plated contacts need cleaning or replacement over time?

Gold plating resists oxidation, so the contacts do not require periodic cleaning or replacement under normal indoor use.

What resolution limit appears first when I run a 4K display at 60 Hz for long sessions?

The adapter supports up to 3840x2160 at 60 Hz per the DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 2.0 specifications; sustained use stays within that ceiling.
