Cable purpose and audience

The LUOM USB C to USB C cable delivers 40Gbps bandwidth, 240W power delivery and 8K 60Hz video over a single male-to-male link. It suits professionals who connect Thunderbolt 3 or 4 docks, eGPU enclosures or high-resolution displays to compatible laptops and workstations. Buyers who need longer runs or legacy USB-A connectors will not find them here.

Thermals noise and power

The cable carries up to 48V at 5A, enabling 240W charging when paired with a compliant charger and device. Passive construction means no fan noise or active cooling is involved. Power loss stays within USB4 specifications so the cable remains cool during typical charging and data sessions.

Sustained load behaviour

At the full 40Gbps Gen3 rate the link can sustain 2.8GB/s read and 2.1GB/s write throughput for large file transfers. Video output holds a single 8K 60Hz stream or dual 4K 60Hz streams without compression drops. Actual speed still depends on the host port generation; Gen2 ports limit bandwidth to 20Gbps.

Questions about this item

How do I install this Thunderbolt 4 USB C cable and what is the common mistake?

Plug the male USB C connectors into compatible ports on both devices; the common mistake is using a port that only supports 20Gbps instead of the full 40Gbps bandwidth.

What maintenance or replacement will this 240W cable need later?

No scheduled maintenance is required; replace the cable only if the connectors become loose, the jacket shows damage, or it no longer delivers 48V/5A charging or 40Gbps speeds.

What limit appears first under sustained use of this 40Gbps cable?

The connected device's port or controller typically limits sustained throughput to 20Gbps or lower thermal throttling before the cable's 40Gbps rating is reached.
