Converts an M.2 M-Key NVMe slot to an Oculink SFF-8612 port with PCIe 4.0 x4 bandwidth up to 64 Gbps, supports 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 drive lengths.
This adapter converts an M.2 M-Key NVMe slot into an Oculink SFF-8612 port for PCIe 4.0 x4 connectivity. It supports M.2 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 form factors and can be trimmed to fit specific space constraints. Builders use it to relocate high-speed storage or add external NVMe devices without occupying a motherboard slot.
The passive PCB design adds no active cooling or moving parts so it produces zero noise and draws no additional power beyond the attached NVMe device. Gold-plated 15µ contacts and UL-certified PCB material maintain signal integrity at PCIe 4.0 speeds up to 64 Gbps. Stable transmission reduces the risk of link errors that can cause system instability.
The Amphenol Oculink SFF-8612 connector enables a secure cable link to a backplane, riser or external enclosure. By moving the drive off the motherboard the adapter frees the M.2 slot for other devices or improves airflow around dense components. It requires a compatible Oculink cable and a host system with PCIe 4.0 support to deliver full bandwidth.

Insert the M.2 NVMe SSD into the M-key slot — it accepts 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 lengths — then secure it with the screw. Connect an Oculink SFF-8612 cable to the Amphenol connector. The PCB can be cut if clearance is tight, but do this before mounting any drive.
The gold fingers are plated to 15µ" to resist oxidation and rust, which reduces connection-related blue screens. No routine maintenance is required; just keep the contacts clean. Replace the adapter only if the PCB is damaged or the Oculink connector fails.
The adapter is rated for PCIe 4.0 x4 with a maximum throughput of 64G/bps. That ceiling is the first hard limit you will hit during sustained transfers, assuming the host, cable and NVMe drive all support gen4 speeds.
