A SATA 22-pin male-to-female adapter protects the original ports of 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch drives while supporting up to 6 Gbps data transfer
This adapter connects a 22-pin male SATA plug to a matching female port. It is intended for 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch hard drives, solid-state drives and optical drives that use the combined data and power connector. The gold-plated copper contacts and moulded PVC housing preserve signal quality up to 6 Gbps while shielding the drive's native port from repeated insertion wear.
The unit replaces a direct drive-to-backplane or drive-to-cable link when physical strain or tight routing risks bending the onboard connector. It is worth fitting when the drive sits in a cramped bay, on a short harness or in a hot-swap tray that sees frequent swaps. The low-profile body keeps the added length minimal so it does not protrude into adjacent slots.
The adapter passes the standard SATA 6 Gbps signalling rate but cannot convert the interface to SAS or any other protocol. It carries 15 power pins and 7 data pins in the 22-pin form factor used by 1.8-inch, 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch devices. Builders who need a SAS connection or a different pin layout must select a purpose-built adapter instead.

The low-profile PVC moulded body adds only a few millimetres behind the drive, so it fits tight 2.5" bays and most 3.5" trays without fouling the chassis wall.
The keyed SATA connector only inserts one way; align the L-shape notch on the 7-pin data side and the wider 15-pin power side, then press straight in — forcing it bends the gold-plated copper pins.
Inspect the gold-plated contacts every few months; replace the adapter if pins show wear, the PVC body cracks, or the screw-hole mounts loosen from repeated insertion cycles.
