18-inch QHD+ 240 Hz gaming laptop

The MSI Crosshair 18 HX AI pairs an 18.0-inch IPS panel at 2560 x 1600 resolution with a 240 Hz refresh rate and 100% DCI-P3 coverage. An Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor with 24 cores runs at 2.1 to 5.4 GHz alongside 32GB of DDR5 5600 memory. A GeForce RTX 5070 GPU with 8GB GDDR7 video memory drives the display. A 4TB PCIe Gen 4x4 NVMe SSD stores the operating system and games. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed.

Upgrade from 60 Hz panels and 8-core CPUs

Moving from a standard 60 Hz screen to the 240 Hz panel makes motion visibly smoother in competitive titles. The jump from an 8-core mobile processor to the 24-core 275HX cuts compile times and raises minimum frame rates in CPU-heavy scenes. The 4TB NVMe drive removes the need to juggle external storage for large libraries. The improvement is worth it when the current machine struggles to hold 100 frames per second at native resolution or when storage runs out monthly.

Suits competitive players and content creators

The high refresh rate, wide colour gamut and 24-thread CPU suit esports players who also edit video or stream. The 32GB DDR5 kit handles multitasking without paging. Buyers who need a lighter chassis for daily commuting or who rely on integrated graphics for battery life should look at smaller ultraportables instead.

Questions about this item

What are the exact dimensions and weight of the 18" chassis so I can confirm it fits my bag?

The laptop measures 15.9 x 11.02 x 1.17 inches and weighs 6.83 lbs.

How do I access the M.2 slot to add a second NVMe drive, and which screw size is used?

Remove the bottom panel screws, lift the panel carefully to avoid the battery cable, then insert the drive into the open PCIe Gen 4x4 slot and secure it with the provided M2 screw.

When will the 90Whr battery typically need replacement, and is it user-replaceable?

The 4-cell 90Whr battery is internal; replacement requires removing the bottom cover and disconnecting the cable, so plan for service after 2-3 years of heavy daily cycles.
