15.6-inch QHD+ 165Hz gaming laptop

The MSI Katana 15 combines a 15.6-inch 165Hz QHD+ anti-glare IPS display with an Intel Core i9-14900HX processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 12GB GDDR7 graphics. It targets gamers and creators who want high frame rates at 2560 x 1600 resolution in a portable 4.96-pound chassis. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed for professional use.

Sustained load on i9-14900HX and RTX 5070

The 24-core 32-thread i9-14900HX runs at 4.1 GHz base with a 5.80 GHz max turbo, feeding the RTX 5070 12GB GDDR7 during long sessions. 32GB DDR5 memory and a 1TB PCIe SSD keep data moving without bottlenecks. The thermal design aims to maintain clocks across extended gaming or rendering workloads rather than brief bursts.

Thermals, noise and power in normal use

A 0.98-inch profile houses cooling for the 14900HX and RTX 5070 while keeping acoustic output controlled during typical mixed use. The 165Hz panel and 45% NTSC colour add minimal heat. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 stay active without noticeable power spikes. Ports include HDMI 2.1, Ethernet, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C and three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A for peripherals.
