15.6" 144Hz FHD gaming laptop

The MSI Katana A15 combines an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS processor with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 8GB GDDR6 GPU. A 15.6 inch 1920x1080 display running at 144Hz drives fast-paced gameplay. The system ships with Windows 11 Home and 64GB of DDR5 memory for multitasking headroom.

Upgraded 4 TB storage over base 512GB

The factory configuration listed a 512GB PCIe SSD and 16GB of memory. This unit has been opened by engineers to install a 4 TB PCIe SSD and 64GB of DDR5, removing the original capacity bottleneck. The jump is worth it when project files, game libraries and virtual machines exceed the base allocation.

Engineer-opened chassis for upgrades

The laptop arrives with the manufacturer seal broken so technicians can install the larger SSD and extra memory before shipment. Installation is handled professionally, reducing the risk of loose connectors or thermal-pad misalignment that can appear in DIY upgrades. Buyers who prefer an untouched factory seal should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

What are the exact dimensions of the Katana A15 chassis for a sleeve or bag?

The laptop measures 14.05 x 10.2 x 1 inches and weighs 5 pounds, so choose a 15.6 inch sleeve with at least a 1 inch depth allowance.

How do I open the bottom cover to access the internals without stripping screws?

Remove all visible Phillips screws on the bottom panel, then use a plastic pry tool starting at a front corner; the hidden screw under the centre rubber foot is the step most people miss.

When will the 64 GB DDR5 memory or 4 TB PCIe SSD need replacement?

Both components are solid-state with no moving parts; they typically last the usable life of the laptop unless a firmware issue or physical damage occurs.
