Ryzen 9 8940HX mobile workstation

The MSI Vector A16 is a 16-inch gaming laptop built around a 16-core AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPU with 12 GB GDDR7 video memory. It ships with 16 GB DDR5 RAM and a 1 TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD. A 240 Hz QHD+ IPS panel covers 100 % DCI-P3 at 400 nits. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed.

Competitive gamers and creators needing colour

The 240 Hz refresh rate and 100 % DCI-P3 coverage suit fast-paced shooters and professional colour work alike. Buyers who prefer a touchscreen or a larger chassis with more expansion bays should consider other form factors. The 90 Wh battery and 330 W adapter support extended sessions away from a desk.

Thunderbolt 5 ports and per-key RGB keyboard

Two USB-C ports provide Thunderbolt 5 connectivity at 40 Gbps for external GPUs or high-speed storage. The SteelSeries per-key RGB keyboard features 99 anti-ghost keys and a 24-zone backlight. A 1080p IR webcam with privacy shutter and MediaTek Wi-Fi 7 MT7925 complete the I/O package.

Questions about this item

Do I need to buy additional RAM or an SSD for the 16GB DDR5 5600MHz and 1TB PCIe Gen 4x4 NVMe M.2 SSD to work?

No, the laptop ships with 16GB of DDR5 5600MHz memory and a 1TB PCIe Gen 4x4 NVMe M.2 SSD already installed, so no extra modules are required for basic operation.

Can I keep using my older USB 3.0 Type-A peripherals with the 2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports?

Yes, the two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports are backward compatible with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 devices, so existing peripherals will function normally.

How can I verify the 240Hz QHD+ panel is running at its native 2560 x 1600 resolution and 240 Hz refresh rate after setup?

Open Windows Settings > System > Display > Advanced display and confirm the resolution shows 2560 x 1600 and the refresh rate dropdown lists 240 Hz as the active setting.
