16-core Ryzen 9 mobile workstation

The MSI Vector A16 pairs an AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX processor with 16 cores and 32 threads up to 5.3 GHz with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti discrete GPU. A 16.0 inch QHD+ IPS panel runs at 240 Hz and 2560 x 1600 resolution. The system ships with 16 GB DDR5 5600 MHz memory and a 1 TB PCIe Gen 4x4 NVMe M.2 SSD. Windows 11 Home is pre-installed.

12 GB GDDR7 VRAM and Thunderbolt 5 I/O

The RTX 5070 Ti provides 12 GB GDDR7 video memory for high-resolution textures and compute workloads. Connectivity includes two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports with Thunderbolt 5 at 40 Gbps, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, HDMI 2.1, RJ45, and a headphone combo jack. MediaTek Wi-Fi 7 MT7925 and Bluetooth 5.4 handle wireless links. A 24-zone RGB keyboard with 99-key anti-ghosting and a 1080p IR webcam with privacy shutter complete the feature set.

90 Wh battery and 330 W adapter limits

A 90 Wh lithium-ion battery powers the chassis, recharged by the included 330-watt AC adapter. The 16 GB DDR5 configuration uses two slots and supports up to 64 GB total. Storage can expand to 4 TB across M.2 slots. Thunderbolt 5 ports deliver 40 Gbps bandwidth and support USB4 and power delivery, but cable length and peripheral power budgets constrain real-world throughput. The 1.12 inch profile and 5.95 lbs weight affect portability.

Questions about this item

Can the 16 GB DDR5 5600 MHz memory be upgraded later?

The laptop supports up to 64 GB DDR5 5600 MHz, so the 16 GB fitted can be replaced with larger modules.

Which component hits its thermal ceiling first during long gaming sessions?

The AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX 16-core processor and RTX 5070 Ti 12 GB GPU share the cooling system; sustained loads will push both toward their thermal limits together.

How loud do the fans get and how hot does the chassis feel when the 330 W adapter is driving the 240 Hz panel all day?

Under continuous load the dual-fan cooler spins up audibly and the metal deck near the rear vents becomes warm, while the 90 Wh battery and 330 W brick keep power delivery stable.
