Direct DP-to-HDMI adapter

The Nippon Labs 30DP-HM200-4K connects a DisplayPort 1.2a source to an HDMI 1.4b display using a short 5.91-inch cable. It supports video resolutions up to 3840x2160 at 30 Hz and carries 7.1 channel audio without a separate connection. The adapter draws power from the DisplayPort output and includes HDCP repeater support for protected content.

Replaces a DP monitor or a separate audio cable

Use this adapter when your computer has a DisplayPort output but the only available display accepts HDMI input. The jump is worth it if you need 4K at 30 Hz with multi-channel audio and want to avoid buying a new graphics card or monitor. It does not serve builders who need HDMI-to-DisplayPort conversion or refresh rates above 30 Hz at 4K.

Plug-and-play with a latched DisplayPort plug

Installation requires no drivers: insert the DisplayPort male end into the source and connect an HDMI cable to the female port. The latch secures the DP connection, reducing accidental disconnects. Common issues arise when users expect bidirectional operation or 4K at 60 Hz, neither of which this adapter supports.

Questions about this item

How much clearance does the 5.91 inch cable need behind a DisplayPort socket?

The short 5.91 inch pigtail bends sharply, so allow roughly 60 mm behind the port for the adapter body and the HDMI cable plug.

Which end locks in place and which end is a plain socket?

The DisplayPort male end has a latch that clicks; push the release tab before pulling it out. The HDMI side is a standard 19-pin female socket.

Does the adapter draw power from the DisplayPort source or need a separate supply?

It is powered entirely from the DisplayPort source, so no external adapter or USB cable is required.
