Practical limits of Cat8

The cable operates at 2000 MHz and is rated for 40 Gbps over its 5 ft length, meeting the channel requirements of the Cat8 standard. Shielded construction with foil and braid controls alien crosstalk at these frequencies. It remains fully backward compatible with Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a and Cat7 equipment, so it will negotiate the highest speed both ends support.

What to verify before ordering

Confirm that both endpoints have RJ45 ports and that 5 ft reaches between them without tension. Ensure the connected gear can actually signal at 25 or 40 Gbps; otherwise the link will fall back to the lowest common speed.
