Rugged 14-inch laptop for field work

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-54 is a semi-rugged Windows 10 Pro notebook built to MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461F and IP65 standards. It targets mobile professionals who need a device that survives drops, vibration, dust and water jets while delivering a full keyboard and a 14.0-inch multi-touch display.

2 TB SSD and 16 GB RAM ceiling

A 2 TB solid-state drive provides ample room for local databases, maps and offline files. The 16 GB memory is soldered to the maximum supported capacity, so multitasking headroom is fixed at this level. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 handles 2D workloads and video playback but runs out of steam on modern 3D applications or heavy GPU compute tasks.

Upgrade from older semi-rugged notebooks

This unit replaces ageing Toughbook models or comparable semi-rugged laptops that lack 4G LTE, GPS, a smartcard reader or a fingerprint sensor. The jump is worth it when field staff require integrated mobile broadband, satellite positioning and hardware-based authentication in a single chassis. Buyers who need user-expandable memory, discrete graphics or a newer CPU generation should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Will the 14.0" multi-touch display and Intel Core i5-5300U work with my existing USB 3.0 docking station?

The laptop provides USB 3.0 ports that connect to standard USB 3.0 docking stations, while the 1920 x 1080 multi-touch screen and 2.3 GHz i5-5300U drive external monitors through the dock's video outputs.

How can I verify the 4G LTE, GPS receiver, smartcard reader and fingerprint sensor are all active after first boot?

Open Device Manager and confirm the Sierra Wireless LTE module, u-blox GPS, smartcard reader and fingerprint sensor appear without error icons; then launch the Panasonic Toughbook Dashboard to run the built-in hardware self-test for each module.

Does the box contain the digitizer pen and power adapter, or must I order them separately?

The shipment includes the laptop, battery, AC adapter, power cord and digitizer pen; no extra purchase is required for those items.
