PIODATA iXflash Cube 512GB for iPhone & iPad

The PIODATA iXflash Cube is a 512MB USB Type A flash drive built for iPhone and iPad users who want automatic local backup while charging. It carries Apple MFi certification and works with the companion app to copy photos and videos without manual transfers. The device is suited for anyone who prefers a physical copy of their media instead of relying only on cloud sync.

White USB-A design with automatic incremental backup

The white cube plugs into a standard USB-A charger or hub and begins backing up new photos and videos as soon as the iOS device is connected and charging. Dark mode in the app lowers power draw during the process. Incremental logic skips files already stored on the drive, and separate folders are created automatically for each user who connects their device.

Replaces manual cable transfers

This drive removes the need to plug an iPhone into a computer or wait for iCloud uploads when restoring a library. It is worth the switch for users who lose devices frequently, need to move full-resolution Live Photos and Burst sets between iPads, or want a local copy that preserves original metadata without monthly fees. It does not serve users who require Android or desktop direct access.

Questions about this item

Does the USB Type-A interface limit backup speed to USB 2.0 rates?

The device uses a USB Type-A connector for power and data; actual throughput depends on the host port and the iXflash Cube app managing the transfer.

What physical clearance does the cube need beside the charging port?

The cube plugs directly into a USB Type-A port; allow enough room for the white cube body so it does not press against the phone or case while charging.

How is the initial setup done, and what step do users often miss?

Install the iXflash Cube app, plug the cube into the charger, then authorise the app to access photos and iCloud — skipping the permission step stops automatic backup.
