USB-C Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

The PISKEKAT USB-C to RJ45 adapter adds a wired Gigabit network port to laptops and tablets that lack built-in Ethernet. It suits professionals who need a stable connection for video calls, large file transfers or secure office networks. The compact aluminium housing makes it easy to carry in a laptop bag.

1000 Mbps limit with USB 3.0 and CAT6

The adapter delivers up to 1000 Mbps when the host USB-C port supports USB 3.0 and a CAT6 or higher cable is used. Ports limited to USB 2.0 will restrict throughput to 10 or 100 Mbps. Thunderbolt 3 ports are compatible and meet the speed requirement. No driver installation is required on supported operating systems.

Requires USB 3.0 Type-C port for full speed

Buyers whose devices only provide USB 2.0 over Type-C will not reach Gigabit rates. The adapter is not intended for USB-A ports or for adding a second Ethernet interface to a desktop PC. Check the host specification before purchase to ensure the port meets the USB 3.0 requirement.

Questions about this item

Which USB-C port version do I need to get the full 1000 Mbps speed?

The adapter reaches 1000 Mbps only when the host USB-C port is USB 3.0; USB 2.0 ports cap the link at 100 Mbps.

What does the 1000 Mbps rating mean once the adapter is plugged into my laptop?

It delivers up to 1 Gbps wired throughput provided you use CAT6 or better Ethernet cable and the host port is USB 3.0; otherwise it falls back to 10 or 100 Mbps.

Does the Thunderbolt 3 label on the adapter change the speed limit compared to a standard USB-C port?

Thunderbolt 3 ports run at USB 3.0 speeds for this adapter, so the practical ceiling remains 1000 Mbps with a CAT6 cable.
