Multi-Platform Wireless Gaming Headset

The Razer Barracuda X Chroma connects to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS and Mac using 2.4 GHz wireless or Bluetooth. It weighs 285 g and uses 40 mm Razer TriForce drivers with a 32 ohm impedance and 96 dB sensitivity. The 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response covers the full audible range for games, music and calls.

Battery Life and Wireless Performance

Up to 70 hours of operation are possible with lighting off on the 2.4 GHz link. SmartSwitch Dual Wireless lets the headset stay paired to a 2.4 GHz dongle and a Bluetooth device simultaneously, switching audio sources with a dedicated button. Incoming Bluetooth calls can be answered instantly or blocked via Do Not Disturb mode in the companion app.

Detachable Microphone and RGB Lighting

A detachable Razer HyperClear cardioid microphone captures voice at 100 Hz to 10 kHz with -42 dB sensitivity. Six-zone RGB lighting on the earcups adds visual flair and can be disabled to extend battery runtime. The headset supports 7.1 surround sound on Windows 10 64-bit or higher for positional audio in supported titles.

Questions about this item

How do I install the headset on a PC and what step do people often miss?

Plug the 2.4 GHz dongle into a USB port, then slide the power switch on. The step many miss is enabling 7.1 surround sound in Windows 10 64-bit audio settings because it is not active by default.

What maintenance or replacement will the headset need later?

The detachable Razer HyperClear cardioid microphone can be removed and replaced if it becomes damaged or if you prefer a different mic. The ear cushions are also replaceable when they wear out.

What limit appears first during long gaming sessions?

Battery life reaches its limit after about 70 hours with RGB lighting off on the 2.4 GHz connection. Turning on the 6-zone earcup lighting reduces that runtime noticeably.
