Purpose and audience

This DC 12V audio pickup microphone with RCA power cable is designed for CCTV security camera and DVR video surveillance systems. It suits installers who need a compact, high-sensitivity microphone to add sound monitoring to existing camera feeds.

Sustained behaviour

The microphone operates on a DC 9V to 12V supply and draws power through the red wire while passing it on via the black wire. Its high-sensitivity element captures audio continuously during long recording sessions without requiring active cooling or complex gain staging.

Installation notes

Wiring is straightforward: red connects to power in, white carries the audio signal and black provides power out for daisy-chaining. The plug-and-play design means no drivers or configuration are needed, though care must be taken to match polarity on the DC supply to avoid damage.

Questions about this item

How much power does the DC 12V Audio Pickup draw when running continuously?

The microphone operates from a DC 9V to 12V supply and connects with red for power in, white for audio, and black for power out.

What connectors must my DVR or camera already have for this pickup to work?

Your recorder needs an RCA audio input and a 12V DC power source to match the pickup's RCA plug and power wiring.

Will this microphone work with an older analogue CCTV camera that only has a BNC video port?

The pickup provides a separate RCA audio output, so it adds sound to any DVR with an RCA audio input regardless of the camera's video connector.
