Rugged 6 TB portable drive for field backup

The SanDisk G-DRIVE ArmorATD provides 6 TB of storage in an anodized aluminum enclosure with a protective bumper. It is built for photographers and videographers who need reliable, high-capacity backup on location. The drive delivers read speeds up to 130 MB/s over a USB-C 5 Gbps interface. It is ready for macOS and works with Windows after reformatting.

Verify USB-C port and OS preparation

Before ordering, confirm your computer has a USB-C port that supports USB 3.2 Gen 1 or Thunderbolt 3 for full performance. The drive is pre-formatted for macOS; Windows users must reformat it before first use. No external power adapter is required, so a single cable handles both data and power. Ensure your workflow can accommodate mechanical drive speeds.

IP54 aluminium shell with integrated bumper

The anodized aluminium body and rubber bumper give the drive an IP54 rating against rain and dust. This construction protects the internal mechanics during outdoor shoots and daily transport. The single USB-C connector handles 5 Gbps data and bus power, keeping cabling simple. The rugged design suits creative professionals moving between studio and field.

Questions about this item

Does the box include a USB-C cable or do I need to buy one separately?

The drive ships with a USB-C cable and a USB-A adapter so it works with both modern and older ports without an extra purchase.

The listing shows only a 6 TB version — is that the sole capacity option?

Yes, this model is offered in a single 6 TB capacity; there are no other sizes for this specific part number.

What does the 130 MB/s read speed mean when I am copying video files to the drive?

It is the maximum sequential read rate over the 5 Gbps USB-C link; real-world transfers of large video files will typically be somewhat lower depending on the host system.
