Wooden Cabinet AM/FM Radio

The Sangean WR-11 is a tabletop receiver housed in a wooden MDF cabinet with a metal grille. It tunes AM and FM bands using a rotary dial with a backlit scale and soft, precise tuning action. A 3-inch full-range speaker with an enlarged magnet delivers 7 W of output power. The unit suits listeners who prefer analogue controls and a traditional wood finish.

Power and Antenna Connections

Verify that your mains supply matches the 120 V, 60 Hz AC requirement for the included adapter. The radio also accepts a 12 V, 1 A DC input for alternative power sources. An external AM antenna terminal and an F-type FM antenna jack are provided for improved reception in difficult locations. A 3.5 mm headphone jack, line-out and auxiliary input allow integration with headphones, recorders or external audio sources.

Sustained Listening Behaviour

Dynamic bass compensation maintains low-frequency richness at moderate volume levels during extended sessions. The analogue tuning mechanism remains stable without drift as the chassis warms up. The wooden cabinet construction helps reduce resonance colouration over long periods. The radio is not designed for portable battery operation or wireless streaming connectivity.

Questions about this item

Does the WR-11 come with an external antenna or do I need to buy one separately?

The box contains the WR-11 wooden cabinet radio only. It has built-in antennas plus terminals for an external AM wire and an F-type FM antenna, which are sold separately if you want them.

Should I choose the AC-powered version or the DC-powered version of the WR-11?

The WR-11 is a single model that runs on 120 V 60 Hz AC mains or 12 V 1 A DC input; you do not pick between versions, you simply use the power source you have available.

What does the 7 W output power mean for everyday listening volume?

The 3-inch full-range speaker with enlarged magnet delivers 7 W, which fills a typical bedroom or kitchen with clear sound at moderate levels.
