Latching SATA cable with straight and right-angle connectors supports 6 Gbps data rate
This 8-inch SATA cable connects a straight port to a right-angle plug, making it useful in cramped chassis or behind stacked drives. The auto-releasing latch locks securely but disengages if the cable is tugged, protecting both the header and the cable. It supports the 6 Gbps SATA data rate and is hot-plug enabled for drive swaps without powering down. Lengths in the same series range from 4 inch up to 40 inch.
The latching mechanism is the upgrade over ordinary friction-fit cables, especially in systems that move or vibrate. It is worth the switch when a drive bay is hard to reach or when cables route past heavy components that might snag them. The straight-to-right-angle orientation solves clearance issues that a straight-to-straight cable cannot. Builders who need left-angle or straight-to-straight variants should look for the matching part numbers in the same range.
The cable is rated for the full 6 Gbps SATA throughput, so sustained sequential reads and writes from HDDs, SSDs or ATAPI optical drives run without degradation. Latch retention stays firm under thermal cycling and vibration, preventing intermittent disconnects that can corrupt transfers. Hot-plug support means the connection survives insertion and removal cycles while the system is running. No active electronics are present, so there is no thermal throttle or latency penalty under load.

The right-angle end bends toward the cable, so allow enough depth for the 8in cable to route without sharp bends; the straight end plugs into the motherboard header normally.
Press the latch tab inward while pulling the connector straight out; the mechanism disengages before any force reaches the SATA header pins.
Replace it if the latch no longer clicks securely, if the cable jacket shows kinks or cuts, or if intermittent drive detection appears after ruling out the drive itself.
