7-to-4 Trailer Plug Adapter

The Sea-Dog Marine 7 to 4 Trailer Plug Adapter connects a seven-pin vehicle socket to a four-pin trailer plug. It suits boat owners and utility trailer users who need to match mismatched wiring connectors. This new adapter provides a simple bridge for standard lighting circuits.

Wiring limited to basic lighting circuits

The adapter passes only the signals present on the four-pin side, typically tail, brake and turn lights. It does not carry auxiliary power, electric brake control or reverse lamp feeds that require the extra pins on a seven-pin connector. The California Proposition 65 warning notes potential chemical exposure.

Verify vehicle socket and trailer plug pin counts

Before ordering, confirm the tow vehicle has a seven-pin round blade socket and the trailer uses a four-pin flat plug. Check that the vehicle wiring is functional and that no extra trailer functions such as electric brakes are required. The adapter does not add circuits missing from the four-pin plug.
