Legal-size file folders for high-volume filing

These legal-size folders come in a 25-count box and are built from 23 point pressboard with a high recycled content. The dark blue colour aids quick visual sorting in busy offices. They suit administrators and legal teams who handle bulky case files daily.

1-inch Tyvek expansion handles sustained bulk

The Tyvek-reinforced gusset expands a full inch, letting each folder absorb growing document sets without splitting. Heavyweight pressboard resists edge wear and tab tear even when drawers are packed tight and files are pulled repeatedly.

Top-tab layout limits drawer density

The 1/3-cut top tabs align with standard legal hanging rails, but they prevent side-tab indexing and reduce how many folders fit in a given drawer depth. Buyers needing maximum linear density or side-tab compatibility should choose a different folder style.

Questions about this item

How much paperwork can the 1" Tyvek expansion gusset hold in a single Smead 22541 folder?

The Tyvek accordion-pleat gusset expands to 1 inch, allowing each folder to hold a thick stack of legal-size documents without tearing.

What filing cabinet or drawer size is required for these legal-size folders?

The folders measure 14-5/8" wide by 9-1/2" high overall with a 9" high body, so they fit standard legal-size filing cabinets and drawers.

Will the 1/3-cut tabs on these dark blue folders align with older 1/3-cut tab folders already in my cabinet?

Yes, the 1/3-cut tabs are a standard size and position, so they line up with existing 1/3-cut folders for a consistent drawer layout.
