Expansion capacity

These folders expand up to 1-1/2 inches to hold bulky paperwork. They are built from heavyweight 14 point manila stock with a reinforced top edge and rounded corners. The W fold design adds strength and capacity for high-volume filing. Each box contains 50 folders ready for end-tab systems.

High-volume filing needs

The 1-1/2 inch expansion suits offices that accumulate thick case files or project records. Straight-cut, interlocking tabs measuring 7/8 inch wide accept adhesive labels for quick identification. Buyers who only store a few sheets per folder will not use the expansion capacity and should consider standard flat folders instead.

1-1/2 inch expansion

The single specification that decides fit is the 1-1/2 inch expansion depth created by the W fold. This determines how much paperwork each folder can hold before it becomes overstuffed. Match this depth to your typical file thickness to avoid buying folders that are too shallow or unnecessarily deep.

Questions about this item

What does the 14 point manila stock handle in practice?

The 14 point manila stock supports up to 1-1/2 inches of paperwork thanks to the W fold expansion.

What clearance does the straight end tab need to fit?

The two-ply straight-cut tabs are 7/8 inch wide and interlock for standard end-tab shelving.

How are the Smead 24275 folders assembled, and what step is often missed?

The W fold is pre-scored; users often forget to fully crease both folds so the expansion locks flat.
