What this product is

Smead 34705 file folders are pressboard folders with a one-inch expansion and two fasteners. They come in a 25-count box for letter-size documents. The gray-green colour helps with quick visual sorting in busy offices.

Capacity and fastening

Each folder expands to one inch, holding thick project files without bulging. Two embedded fasteners secure punched pages in sequence, preventing tears and the crinkling common with single-prong fasteners.

Installation and common issues

No assembly is required; simply insert punched sheets onto the prongs and close the folder. The main issue is using unpunched paper, which cannot be fastened, and labels are sold separately for the end tab.

Questions about this item

How much expansion does the one-inch gusset actually give inside a filing cabinet?

The one-inch expansion allows the folder to hold a thick stack of letter-size documents while still fitting standard cabinet rails.

Does the end-tab design work with both side-tab and top-tab shelving systems?

End tabs are read from the drawer front, so they suit lateral or vertical cabinets that index folders by the exposed edge.

Will the two embedded fasteners accept punched sheets without a separate binder?

Yes, the two built-in fasteners secure punched pages directly inside the folder, keeping them in sequential order.
