Product identity

The Smead 71167 TUFF expansion wallet is a single heavy-duty folder designed for legal-size documents that need extra capacity. Its seven-inch gusset allows the wallet to expand significantly for bulky project files or archived records. The manila and redrope construction provides tear resistance for frequent handling in office or home filing systems.

Who it suits and who it does not

This wallet suits anyone organising large volumes of legal paperwork such as case files, contracts or long-term archives where a standard folder would split. It is not for users who only store a few sheets per folder, who prefer slimmer profiles for tight drawer space, or who need letter-size compatibility instead of the legal format supplied.

Deciding specification

The seven-inch expansion depth is the single measurement that determines whether this wallet fits the job. Buyers needing less capacity will find the gusset unnecessarily wide, while those requiring more room must look for a larger gusset size not offered by this model.

Questions about this item

What size filing cabinet or drawer do I need to store these legal-size expansion wallets?

They are legal-size wallets, so a legal-width drawer or shelf is required.

Can I use standard letter-size folders inside the same drawer with these legal wallets?

Letter folders will fit front-to-back but will leave unused width; many users add a divider or spacer.

How do I know the 7-inch expansion is fully usable after I load the wallet?

The gusset opens to a full 7 inches; when the sides are parallel and the flap closes flat, the capacity is reached.
