Product purpose

The Smead 73790 is a letter-size expansion file pocket sold in a box of 10. It is designed for offices and professionals who need to store bulky client files or project documents that exceed the capacity of standard folders. The 5.25-inch expansion allows a single pocket to hold a large volume of paperwork. Buyers who need a smaller expansion or a different tab style should look elsewhere.

Durability under load

The pocket uses a fully lined gusset with tear-resistant material and rollover reinforcement at the top. The gusset extends twice as far into the front and back panels as standard designs. Super heavyweight panels include a hidden reinforcement strip at the highest stress point. These features prevent the pocket from ripping out when pulled from a shelf by the gusset, even when fully expanded and heavily loaded.

Build and daily use

The straight tab provides a clean labelling surface for quick identification in drawer or shelf systems. Extra wide pockets accommodate standard top-tab file folders inside, enabling a complete client file within one pocket. The Redrope colour helps with visual categorisation. The product is made using wood sourced from a certified managed forest.

Questions about this item

Does the 5.25 inch expansion gusset on the Smead 73790 folder hold its shape when fully loaded all day?

The gusset is fully lined with tear-resistant material and has rollover reinforcement at the top, extending twice as far into the panels as standard pockets to maintain rigidity under heavy daily use.

What size file folders must I already own to fit inside these TUFF Pockets?

The extra-wide pockets are designed to accommodate standard Letter-size top-tab file folders for a complete client file system.

Will the straight-cut tab on the 73790 model align with older third-cut tab folders in my existing drawer?

The straight tab provides a single full-width label area; it will not stagger with third-cut tabs, so plan your drawer layout accordingly.
