Legal-size expansion pockets

These 5.25-inch expansion pockets are designed for legal documents that exceed standard folder capacity. Heavy-duty front and back panels include a hidden poly reinforcement strip for added strength. Tear-resistant gussets extend twice as far into the panels as standard pockets. Each box contains 10 pockets made from Manila Redrope stock.

High-volume legal filing

Suits offices, law firms and archives that regularly store thick legal-size case files or project binders. The fold-down front allows quick access to deep contents without removing the pocket. Not intended for letter-size documents or for users who need only slim, single-sheet folders.

5.25-inch overall expansion

The single specification that determines fit is the 5.25-inch expansion depth, which dictates how much material each pocket can hold. Buyers should verify that their shelf or drawer space accommodates this width when fully loaded. Model 74390 is sold in boxes of 10.

Questions about this item

Does the 5.25 inch expansion pocket stay cool and quiet when fully loaded all day?

The Smead 74390 is a paper-based filing pocket with no moving parts, fans or electronics, so it produces no heat and makes no noise regardless of how long it is used.

What existing filing equipment do I need so the legal-size Redrope pockets fit straight in?

They are designed for legal-size hanging-file rails or drawer frames; any standard legal-width cabinet, shelf or desktop file that accepts 5.25 inch expansion will hold the box of ten pockets.

Will the Tyvek-reinforced gussets on these Manila-lined pockets damage older manila folders stored beside them?

The tear-resistant Tyvek gussets are smooth and flexible, so they slide against older folders without abrading or tearing the paper edges.
