Adds two USB 3.0 front-panel ports through an M.2 B+M slot with a 4-pin power connector for stable 5 Gbps transfers
This SMUGDESK adapter converts a spare M.2 B+M Key slot on a desktop motherboard into two USB 3.0 1920Pin front-panel headers. It targets builders who want extra USB ports without sacrificing a PCIe slot. The card works only with M.2 slots that carry USB signalling; it will not function in NVMe M-key only slots.
A dedicated 4Pin power connector supplements the M.2 slot to prevent voltage droop when multiple high-draw peripherals are attached. The board draws no extra power unless the 4Pin header is populated, keeping idle consumption negligible. No active cooling is present, so the PCB runs silently inside the chassis.
The adapter requires no driver or software on any supported operating system, enabling immediate use after hardware installation. Backward compatibility with USB 2.0 and 1.1 ensures older devices still connect at their native speeds. The compact PCB fits standard M.2 mounting dimensions for straightforward screw-down installation.

Insert the M.2 B+M Key male connector into a compatible motherboard slot that carries USB signals, secure the board with the mounting screw, then attach the 4‑pin power connector from your PSU to the card — skipping this power step causes unstable device recognition.
The adapter has no moving parts or firmware, so it requires no scheduled maintenance; replacement is only necessary if the PCB is physically damaged or the motherboard slot fails.
The USB 3.0 5 Gbps interface caps continuous throughput, so prolonged large‑file copies will hit that bandwidth ceiling before any other constraint.
