Long-range 8K DisplayPort cable

This 15-metre optical DisplayPort 1.4 cable carries 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 144 Hz over a single link. It is built for installations where the source and display are far apart, such as home-theatre runs, conference rooms or sim rigs. The fibre construction prevents signal loss at this length. Both ends are standard full-size DisplayPort plugs.

Directional fibre link limits

The cable is unidirectional: one plug is marked Source for the GPU or laptop, the other is marked Display for the monitor or projector. Reversing the ends will result in no picture. HBR3 bandwidth of 32.4 Gbps supports 7680×4320 resolution, but the link will not negotiate higher rates or future revisions. No external power adapter is required.

Fifteen-metre reach decides fit

At 15 metres (49.2 ft) this cable covers runs that copper DisplayPort cables cannot. If the distance between your graphics card and screen is shorter, a passive copper cable will be cheaper and easier to route. If you need a longer run, the 30-metre variant exists, but the 15-metre version will not span that gap.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 15 m or 30 m length for my setup?

The 15 m version covers up to 49.2 ft and is ideal for typical room-scale runs; the 30 m version reaches 100 ft for larger installations.

What does the 32.4 Gbps bandwidth deliver on my monitor?

It carries the full DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3 rate, enabling 7680 x 4320 at 60 Hz or 4K at 144 Hz without compression.

How does the DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3 interface limit what I can run?

The link caps at 32.4 Gbps, so 8K 60 Hz and 4K 144 Hz are supported, but higher refresh rates at 8K would exceed the available bandwidth.
