Ultra-long optical DisplayPort cable

The SMUGDESK DisplayPort 1.4 optical cable spans 30 m or 100 ft to link a GPU or laptop to a monitor, projector or TV. It targets installers and enthusiasts who need 8K 60 Hz or 4K 144 Hz bandwidth across rooms or through conduit where copper cables fail. The fibre construction eliminates electromagnetic interference over the full length.

Sustained 8K bandwidth over 30 metres

Optical fibres carry the full DisplayPort 1.4 bit-rate without the attenuation that limits passive copper beyond a few metres. Gold-plated connectors maintain low contact resistance during continuous 8K 60 Hz or 4K 144 Hz sessions. The link remains stable for gaming, home-theatre playback or professional signage without signal drop-outs over the entire 30 m run.

Directional plug-and-play install

Each end is marked "Source" for the GPU or laptop and "Display" for the monitor or projector; reversing them yields no image. No drivers or external power are required once the orientation is correct. The only common failure is plugging the ends backwards, which is resolved by swapping the connectors.

Questions about this item

How much power does the 30 m optical DisplayPort cable draw when running 8K at 60 Hz all day?

The cable uses optical fibre for signal transmission, so it carries no electrical power along its length and adds negligible draw to the source device.

Which devices must already have a DisplayPort 1.4 output for this 100 ft cable to work?

The "Source" end requires a DisplayPort 1.4 output on a computer, laptop or other DP source; the "Display" end connects to any monitor, projector or TV with a DisplayPort input.

Will the 30 m cable work with an older graphics card that only supports DisplayPort 1.2?

The cable is built to the DisplayPort 1.4 specification and is direction-specific; it will not negotiate a link if the source is limited to DisplayPort 1.2.
